How to Make a Gray Ice Cream Cake

Have you ever heard of a Color Luncheon? I was clueless when one of the ladies at school asked me to pick a color. Since pink was already chosen, I picked gray. After we all picked our colors, we found out that we would have to dress in that color (which is never a problem), and we would also have to bring a food of that color to a luncheon.

Have you ever tried to find gray food? It is not an easy task. I had just made a Chocolate Malt Ice Cream cake for a church fellowship, so I decided to adapt it a little and make a gray ice cream cake.

Although the color is gray, it also looks a little silver. This would be a great dessert for a Silver Anniversary celebration.

Ingredients:

A pink cake stand holds dessert ingredients on the counter: Oreo cookies, vanilla ice cream sandwiches, Cool Whip, Extra Creamy whipped cream, and silver sprinkles—perfect for learning how to make a gray ice cream cake.

Directions:

Arrange 4 ice cream sandwiches (long sides touching) on a serving plate. Squirt an even layer of spray whipped cream over the top.

Repeat the layers twice.

To make the topping, I mixed a box of Oreo dry pudding mix into a large container of Cool Whip. I was hoping this would give the topping a gray color. It did not turn gray, but it tasted great. I frosted the sides and the top and then put it into the freezer until morning.

The next morning, I dusted it with the silver sparkle dust and headed to the school. It looked nice, but I wanted more of a gray look to it, so I ran to Hobby Lobby and got these silver candies from the wedding section.

As I mentioned above, I had made the same cake for a church fellowship, but on top of each layer of spray whipped cream, I added crushed Whoppers. I am adding the full recipe below.
