Don’t you just love seeing old things repurposed as something completely different? There are so many things you can do when you use your imagination. See how to transform something old into something new today.

Transform an Old Window

I bought this old window at a garage sale when we built our house. It was very old, and it had very little paint on it. I don’t even think chalk paint was a thing back then, or I would have used it! Since I was going for a weathered look anyway, I gave it a rough coat of paint, but I had no idea what to do with it. The wall over my bathtub was bare, so I decided to hang it there. Then the towels just made sense.

After all of these years, it needs a little updating. Changing the color of the towels, ribbons, and flowers will be an inexpensive way to change the whole look of this old window.

Transform an Old Iron into a Clock

This old iron was about to go in the trash. It no longer worked, but I needed a clock in the laundry room. It is so easy to make a clock out of almost anything! The kits are very inexpensive, and you basically just put it together. Jay had the most challenging part of this project – drilling a hole through the iron. Other than that, it was very simple.

This very week, one of my all time favorite blogs posted this very thing! KariAnne at Thistlewood Farms gives such a great story about transforming an old clock in her house. Read her post, “How to Create Your Own Clock.”

Transform an Old Sentimental Cabinet Drawer into Something New

.

Three or four years ago, my daughter called me, very excited about a find she had made. After hearing about it, I was excited also! She was driving down the street where my grandmother’s old house was located. When she passed by it, there were old cabinet drawers and doors out at the curb. She stopped and found out that they were renovating the kitchen, and they told her she could have anything out there.

.

I cannot tell you how many memories were made in that house, especially in the kitchen! I can still feel the way the drawers pulled out, sometimes needing a little force due to all the coats of paint. I loved everything about that kitchen, and now I have a piece of it. She grabbed us both a drawer.

I added another coat of paint to go with all of the others and hung it on the wall. I have not ever really been pleased with it on the wall, so I am looking for a way to transform this old drawer into something new. I am open for suggestions!

  1. I love your ideas for repurposing, I have seen other crafters using drawer on a wall to hold towel in their bathroom. I have a out side ladder I’m hoping to use in my garden area for a green bean trellis.
