How to Make an Easy Caramel Apple Dump Cake Recipe

This easy recipe is probably my favorite go-to when I need to carry a dessert to a gathering or to a friend or neighbor. It literally takes 5 minutes to prepare, and the ingredients are things you can keep on hand at all times. It has to be the easiest dessert to prepare, and it has become a family favorite.

Caramel Apple Dump Cake

This easy dessert is so delicious. The apple and caramel filling topped with the buttery cake mix is amazing. It is very sweet, so a big scoop of ice cream works perfectly to balance it.

In the past, I have used store bought Non-Stick Cooking Spray. I just recently purchased this oil sprayer to use instead. I control what type of oil I add to the bottle, and it works great.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9X13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Spread both cans of apple pie filling onto the bottom of your baking dish. 
  3. Sprinkle half of the bag of caramel bits evenly over the top of the apples.
  4. Evenly distribute the dry cake mix over the top.
  5. Pour the melted butter evenly over the top of the cake mix, covering as much of it as you can.
  6. Bake uncovered in the center rack of the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes or until the buttery cake mix turns a deep golden brown.
  7. For best results, allow it to cool for about 5 minutes and then serve warm with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.

  • Experiment with different fruit fillings.
    • Peaches 
    • Pears
    • Cherries
  • If you are not a fan of caramel, omit the caramel bits. It is definitely a personal preference.
  • Drizzle caramel sauce on top of each serving.
  • Top with whipped cream.
  • Store leftover apple dump cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • Warm up leftover apple dump cake in the microwave or eat it at room temperature.
  • Keep these simple ingredients on hand at all times for spur of the moment needs.

  • 2 Sticks of butter, melted
  • Vanilla Ice Cream for serving (optional)
