10 Scriptures to Inspire Gratitude and Thanksgiving
Whether we are on the mountaintop or in the valley, we should always be thankful to the Lord. Here are 10 scriptures to inspire gratitude and thanksgiving, even when we don’t feel like it.
If you have ever felt down, discouraged, or downright sad, you understand that it can be easy to lose sight of what you are thankful for in life.
On the other hand, when things are going well, and we are loving life, it is also easy to get caught up in those emotions. The good times can even be harder to see what all the Lord has done for us because we tend to become self-sufficient.
Whatever you are feeling at this point in time, I hope these verses inspire gratitude and thanksgiving in your life.

#1 – I Timothy 4:4
Look at everything God has created. It is amazing and awesome, and He gives it to us to enjoy. He is such a giving and loving God!
#2 – I Chronicles 29:13
We have so much to thank the Lord for and praise His name. There are so many times we need to thank Him for the things He kept us from. There are so many times He protects us, and yet we have no knowledge of it. I believe one day we will see it and praise Him for it!
#3 – Hebrews 12:28
Wow – A kingdom that cannot be shaken! Just the thought of living in an eternal kingdom one day with our Lord and Savior is awe inspiring! How can we not be grateful when we keep our eyes focused on His Kingdom?
#4 – 2 Corinthians 4:15
It can be so hard to see the good in our pain sometimes, but trust that He is working it all out for our good! Think of this scripture:
“We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28
#5 – 2 Corinthians 9:12
What we do for others not only helps them, but it is an outward expression of our love and thankfulness to the Lord. Let that expression of thanks be so evident as we serve one another.
#6 – Psalm 95:2
As His children, we have direct access to the Father through our Savior Jesus Christ. What a privilege to be able to be in a personal relationship with the Creator of the world, not to mention being able to be IN His Presence! This calls for thanksgiving and praise!
#7 – Philippians 4:6
We all know that in this world, we will have trouble. What a relief it is to know that we don’t have to figure it all out. Just as our earthly fathers want to help us with our troubles, the Lord is by our sides. We may not be rescued from all problems, but knowing we can take it all to Him can alleviate anxiety and stress.
Pray about anything and everything – nothing is too big or too small. Give it all to Him, and thank Him for His goodness.
#8 – Colossians 2:7
Regardless of when your Christian journey began, your roots in the Lord can grow into a firm foundation. As we continue growing closer to Him, we will naturally be more thankful for Him.
#9 – Psalm 107:8-9
Think of all that the Lord has provided for us. He meets our every need plus more. It is easy to feel dissatisfied when we compare what we have to others who have more material things. It only takes one mission trip to see that we have all that we need.
What is even more amazing in this scripture is the phrase “unfailing love.” His love for us is not based on our performance or how many times we mess up. He truly loves us!!! That is definitely worth giving thanks.
#10 – I Corinthians 15:57
VICTORY!!! There are times that we cannot see it, but we have the ultimate victory through Christ. To fully grasp this (as much as humanly possible), we need to see the verses right before this one.
“When this corruptible body is clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal body is clothed with immortality, then the saying that is written will take place:
‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.
Where, death, is your victory?
Where, death, is your sting?‘
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.”
I Corinthians 15:54-56
Knowing this victory that IS ours in Christ gives us comfort when we lose a loved one. It gives us peace when we don’t know what is ahead and thankfulness for the One Who gives us that victory!
