Life Lessons from the Bible in Titus Part 2

Life Applications and Lessons (Vol. 119)

We saw so many life applications in Titus last week. This week we will finish the book of Titus as we see the life lessons in Titus chapter 3.

An open Bible turned to Titus chapter 3 rests on a table with a candle and greenery. "Life Applications and Lessons" appears above, while "From Titus - Chapter 3" and a website link are shown below.

Titus chapters 1 and 2 had a definite theme. They were all about the examples we set for others.

Chapter 3 is more about representing the Lord and appreciating all that He has done for us. They are very connected!

Life Applications and Lessons from the Book of Titus Chapter 3

“Remind them to submit to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to slander no one, to avoid fighting, and to be kind, always showing gentleness to all people.” Titus 3:1-2

We may know the right thing to do, but it is easy to get caught up in the moment. The next thing you know, we are going down our own path.

  • Being aware of our feelings and actions can stop a lot of disobedience before it gets out of hand.
  • Reminders and accountability also helps us stay on track.
Text on a soft pink satin background reads: “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17. Inspired by Titus chapter 3. Below is the website www.homewithgraceandjoy.com, all bordered by a gold frame.

“For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved by various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another.” Titus 3:3

  • Remember where we came from and how we acted.
  • On occasion, we still act in some of these ways, and we have the Holy Spirit within us.
  • How can we judge others who do not know the Lord for acting like this when they do not have the Spirit to guide them.
Text from the Bible, including 1 Corinthians 2:14 and a reference to Titus chapter 3, appears in brown font on a soft pink background with small star illustrations. Website "www.homewithgraceandjoy.com" is written at the bottom.

He poured out His Spirit on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior so that, having been justified by His grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life. This saying is trustworthy. I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed God might be careful to devote themselves to good works. These are good and profitable for everyone.” Titus 3:6-8

If we can ever fully grasp the magnitude of all that the Lord does for us, we will want to do good works. He:

  • Pours out His Spirit on us abundantly
  • Justifies us from our sins
  • Makes us heirs with Him
  • Gives us eternal life.

Text reads: “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember Your wonders of old.” Psalm 77:11. The background is a light beige with soft, blurred leaf shapes, gently reminiscent of Titus chapter 3. Website link at bottom.

“But avoid foolish debates, genealogies, quarrels, and disputes about the law, because they are unprofitable and worthless.” Titus 3:9

No one is going to be drawn to the Lord and want to be saved because we argued with them to win our point, especially if it is over something that doesn’t really matter.

“Let our people learn to devote themselves to good works for pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful. ” Titus 3:14

  • Doing good works and seeing the needs around us may not come naturally to us.
  • For some people, doing things for others is a spiritual gift, so it comes easily for them.
  • Whether it comes naturally to you or not, be intentional in looking for needs. When we help with those needs, we are doing good works for the Lord.

I do several puzzles each morning, and one of them is a word search. On occasion, I will try to find the words without looking at the word list. When I get stuck and finally look at the list, the words literally jump out at me.

A word search puzzle titled "HOMEMADE CROUTONS" with words like garlic, onion, and crisp; next to it, the solved puzzle. Text says “We see what we are looking for? LIVE LOOKING.” Inspired by reflection in Titus chapter 3.

It is the same way with seeing the needs around us. If we go through life not looking for the needs around us, it is harder to see them. You tend to see what you are looking for – Let’s purpose to live looking!

These are a few of my favorite Bible study resources:

  • She Reads Truth Bible – I love this Bible! It is easy to read and accurate to the original text.
  • Composition Notebook – I use a simple composition notebook to record the life lessons I see in the scriptures.
  • Sticky Notes – When I need to mark my place or a certain passage, why not do it with cute sticky notes instead of plain ones?😊

Fun Gift Idea of Biblical Life Lessons

An open book on a fringed cloth displays handwritten notes in its margins, capturing the insights of "Success Lessons in Nehemiah." A fabric bookmark nestles between pages rich with text and blue pen annotations, inviting reflection at a table brimming with study and wisdom.

If you have joined me recently, these daily life applications from the Bible are examples of some of the comments I am writing in the Bibles I am giving to my grandchildren when they graduate from high school. Click here to see the post where I explain this eternal gift idea. I want to give them all the resources I can to use in today’s world!

  1. “Remember where we came from and how we acted.” This is vital to keep us from being self-righteous. When you have been saved a long time, it’s easy to slip into that mind-set. Praying we all remember where we came from!

  2. Love how you spoke about looking around to see the needs of others even when we don’t feel lke it comes naturally, Susan. I definitely have the gift of encouragement but I rarely feel nuturing. That said, I’ve had a lot of people placed on my path that needed to be nutured and while it still doesn’t feel natural it is getting easier. Thank you for the sweet reminder that He equips us for His purpose no matter how ready or natural it feels. Big hugs, CoCo

    1. You definitely have the gift of encouragement! I think mine is situational.😊 I am working to do better though,
