Life Applications from 2nd and 3rd John

I really enjoyed reading First, Second, and Third John. There were so many life applications and lessons in those three small books of the Bible. Here are a few of the life applications from 2nd and 3rd John.

A brown journal rests on a pink fur surface with greenery and gold candlesticks beside it. Text above reads, “Life Applications from 2nd John and 3rd John.” Website link: www.homewithgraceandjoy.com.

I hope you find as much encouragement in these lessons as I did.

Life Applications and Lessons from 2nd and 3rd John

“This is love: that we walk according to His commands. This is the command as you have heard it from the beginning: that you walk in love.”
2 John 6

  • Love covers all bases. When you walk in love, you don’t do things against the Lord or people.
  • This is a very hard way to live. Before you do or say something, ask yourself if it is love. This is the litmus test!
Text on a floral-patterned background reads: “‘Do everything in love.’ I Corinthians 16:14.” Drawing Life Applications from scripture, the design also lists www.homewithgraceandjoy.com at the bottom.

“Anyone who does not remain in Christ’s teaching but goes beyond it does not have God. The one who remains in that teaching, this one has both the Father and the Son.”
2 John 9

  • Don’t add to or change the message of Christ.
  • We can keep learning and interpreting the Word, but don’t try to get too philosophical and read into it things that are not there.
  • Don’t fall prey to people who have changed the Word, even slightly.
  • Measure what you take in by what the actual Word says.
An open Bible lies on a white surface next to a beige knit blanket and a green hydrangea flower, inviting reflection. Below is a quote from 1 Thessalonians 2:13 about thanking God for His Word and its Life Applications.

“Hold on to the pattern of sound teaching that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 1:13

I have no greater joy than this: to hear that my children are walking in truth.”
3 John 4

  • It is such a blessing to see our children, grandchildren, and family living in the truth.
    • This includes biological kids and family.
    • It is also spiritual kids.
    • Also included is church family.
  • As we all pour into our families – biological and spiritual, they in turn pour into others. The family continues to grow and walk in the truth.
A cup of coffee, a gold spoon, and dried flowers rest on an open book. Overlay text quotes Ephesians 5:1: “Therefore, be imitators of God, as dearly loved children,” with life applications and a website link at the bottom.

Bible Gift Idea of Life Lessons

An open book on a fringed cloth displays handwritten notes in its margins, capturing the insights of "Success Lessons in Nehemiah." A fabric bookmark nestles between pages rich with text and blue pen annotations, inviting reflection at a table brimming with study and wisdom.

If you have joined me recently, these daily life applications from the Bible are examples of some of the comments I am writing in the Bibles I am giving to my grandchildren when they graduate from high school. Click here to see the post where I explain this eternal gift idea. I want to give them all the resources I can to use in today’s world!
