Unique and Tasty Peach Salad Recipe

The first time my mother-in-law made this, I was very skeptical about trying it. This unique and tasty peach salad recipe was something I had never heard of. However, it soon became one of my favorites!

A plate with three Peach Salads topped with shredded cheese, and a hand holding a small bowl of the same salad. Text reads “Unique and Tasty Peach Salad.” Elegant table decor with flowers and candles in the background.

I am not sure if this is something she came up with on her own or one of those things that was passed down to her. Regardless of where it came from, it is a delicious salad!

Peach Salad Recipe

These are not your typical salad recipes. It may even seem odd (I know it did to me at first), but give it a try. Instead of one big salad, these are individual salads.

This recipe is good any time of year because you use canned peaches. However, it really is the perfect summer peach salad.

During peach season, you could try using fresh peaches – they have such a natural sweetness. Just cut the whole fruit in half after peeling it. There is just a little more prep work involved.

Simple Ingredients

There is something about the combination of the sweet peaches and the tangy mayo topping that really works here. The grated cheese adds the perfect texture. It all comes together to make the perfect balance.

Instructions

You can’t get easier than this!

Instructions

  1. Lay the peach halves on a plate, cut side up.
  2. Add a dollop of mayonnaise to the center of the peach.
  3. Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top of the mayonnaise and serve.
  4. Sprinkling the top with paprika gives it an added flavor. It is really delicious but optional.

With or without paprika, these are delicious!

Tips and Other Options

  • Used fresh peaches instead of canned. If you do this, be sure to use ripe peaches.
  • Unless you are preparing the salads on a deviled egg tray, place the juicy peaches on a paper towel to keep them from sliding around on the plate.
A beige cloth and a folded white paper towel sit on a brown surface. Beside them, a rectangular white tray is ready to serve, perfect for presenting fresh dishes like peach salad.
  • Place each peach half on top of a piece of butter lettuce, baby spinach, or a bed of salad greens.
  • Use the mayonnaise or Miracle Whip that comes in the squeeze bottle for a little extra ease.
  • You can serve these without the mayonnaise for the people who do not care for it. Just top the peaches with cheese and serve.
Three round desserts topped with shredded cheese are served on a white rectangular plate, resembling bite-sized Peach Salad delights, with an extra serving in a small glass bowl set on a beige cloth atop a brown surface.

  • Grill the fresh peaches just until there are light grill marks on them for added flavor.
  • Prepare the individual peach salads in advance and keep them refrigerated until ready to serve.
  • Experiment with other toppings:
    • Fresh Herbs
    • Basil Leaves
    • Fresh Mint
    • Red Onion
    • Black Pepper
    • Feta Cheese
    • A Drizzle of Maple Syrup
  • Serve them on a deviled egg tray.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • These peach salads make a great side dish, and they go with almost all main dishes.

Three cheese balls coated with shredded cheese are arranged on a long white plate, with a small glass bowl of shredded cheese nearby—perfect alongside a refreshing peach salad—all set on a beige cloth atop a maroon surface.

Not only do I love the look of it, and it is perfect for these peach salads, but now I will think of my friend and her sweet mother every time I use it.

Here are some of the items I found that would be easy to serve these. The deviled egg containers would hold them well unless your peaches were pretty large. If so, you could skip every other spot and space them out a little.

I had never heard of it either and thought she was just trying to save herself a trip to town lol. Love that you do something similar in your family too. It’s always fun to see revisit recipes I haven’t seen or eaten in forever on your blog! Hugs, CoCo
