Happy Monday!

I would love to get your insight regarding the misread song lyrics below. Please tell me I am not the only one!

If you click the down arrow in the table of contents, you can click on a topic, and it will automatically scroll down to that section.

Faith

Have you ever sung song lyrics for so long, only to find out you had been singing the wrong words?

I can think of many songs over the years:

  • One of mine was “Blinded by the Light.” (I’m not even saying what I thought it was, but you can probably guess!)
  • When Jacob was little, he did not know the vocabulary word “exalted.” When we would sing “The King is Exalted,” he thought we were saying exhausted.
  • My latest one is “Jesus Paid it All.” I am almost embarrassed to say it, but it still made sense. Can you even guess? I will give you a hint – it is in the 2nd verse.
Sheet music for the hymn "Jesus Paid It All," hymn number 249, with lyrics and musical notation. A Bible verse (1 Peter 2:24) graces the top, accompanied by verses, a chorus, and a gentle reference to apron strings of faith.

I discovered about a year ago that it was “change the leper’s spots” and not the leopard’s spots! Like I say, it makes sense either way.

Do you have any songs like that? Please share.

A September Plan

A cozy outdoor dinner gathering with various dishes and candles on the table. Text overlay reads: "Monthly Eat at Home Challenge" with www.homewithgraceandjoy.comโ€”where memories are made and apron strings tie us together.

I am hoping you will join me in what I am calling the “Eat at Home Challenge” for September. Here lately I have not stuck to my menu plan that well, which leads to scrambling to find something to cook and eating out more than we would like.

I am putting together a plan to go along with the monthly menu next month. I am trying to include some options for volleyball/football game nights and other activities that come along each week.

A cozy dinner table set with plates, candles, and food, evokes the warmth of gathered apron strings. A card in the center reads, "How many meals will you commit to?" Website: homewithgraceandjoy.com.

Be thinking how many meals a week you want to commit to. I don’t want to set myself up for failure, so I am committing to four a week. I am going to plan for more, but I know unexpected things can come up during the week.

If you are not sure if you want to try it, I will give you another challenge. Keep track of every meal you eat out this week. At the end of the week, see how much money you spent just on eating out. We were shocked when we did that.

Let me know if you are interested in joining the challenge with me. Maybe we can hold each other accountable and still give ourselves grace.

Household Tip Update

Here is an update to the homemade Dawn Powerwash. I have not tried it with dishes, but it does work great for cleaning your glasses.

We always mix Dawn with water in old foaming soap dispensers anyway, so I already had that. I didn’t measure, but I poured some rubbing alcohol into my soap mixture, and I can definitely tell a difference.

I feel like my hands are a little more disinfected also.

FYI – If you decide to do this, add the water to the bottle before adding Dawn. Otherwise it bubbles too much.
