Beef Tips and Noodles in the Crock Pot
I have had beef tips and noodles on menus for a few years. I just realized that I have never shared the recipe.

At one time, I shared a major blooper when I attempted to fix Jay’s dad beef tips and noodles for his birthday. I was only 18 and had NO kitchen experience. It was a disaster!
If you want to read about that experience or see that full-blown recipe, you can see it here.
Jay and I both love beef tips and noodles, so Jay came up with an easy version that we could throw together in the crock pot.
Why You Will Love This Recipe
- Easy Prep: Just a few minutes of prep in the morning, and dinner is ready when you are. Just boil some noodles and you are ready to go.
- Budget-Friendly: Uses simple ingredients you probably already have on hand.
- Family Favorite: A crowd-pleaser that’s great for leftovers too!

How To Make Beef Tips and Noodles

Instructions
- Spray the inside of the crock pot lightly with nonstick cooking spray, olive oil, or use a liner for easy cleanup.
- Cut the meat into bite-sized pieces if they didn’t come that way.
- Combine beef tips, beef gravy, mushrooms, and black pepper. Stir gently to combine.
- Slow Cook: The cooking time is your option: Low: 7–8 hours or High: 4–5 hours. The beef should be tender and the sauce rich and flavorful.
- Cook the egg noodles in a large Dutch oven, according to package directions just before serving and drain well. I like to cook them al dente so the leftovers don’t turn out to have mushy noodles.
- Add the noodles to the beef mixture, season with salt and more black pepper. Stir well, serve, and enjoy!

Helpful Tips and Variations
- Add sliced onions at the start for extra flavor.
- Sprinkle a packet of Dry Onion Soup Mix to the meat before cooking in the slow cooker.
- I have found that a roast makes very tender beef tips.
- Serve over mashed potatoes or rice instead of noodles for a hearty twist.
- Top with Parmesan cheese.
- Make your own homemade beef gravy using:
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I cook the noodles in the crock pot?
- It is best not to cook the egg noodles in the crock pot. You will run the risk of the noodles turning out mushy.
- Can I freeze the leftovers?
- Absolutely! However, you will need to keep the noodles completely separated from the beef and gravy mixture. Just make fresh noodles when reheating the frozen beef and gravy.
- How can I thicken the gravy?
- You can do one of two things to thicken the gravy:
- Use 1 1/2 jars of the Heinz Beef Gravy instead of 2 jars.
- Stir in a cornstarch slurry (1T. cornstarch + 1 T. water) into the beef and gravy mixture during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
