Apron Strings & Blessings Weekly Newsletter Vol. 17

Happy Thanksgiving Week!

Thanks for joining me for this week’s, “Apron Strings & Blessings.” Let’s take a look at all things faith, family, and home!

A banner featuring "Apron Strings & Blessings - Tying Faith, Family, and Home Together One Blessing at a Time" with a circular "Home with Grace and Joy" logo. Celebrate the strength of apron strings at www.homewithgraceandjoy.com.

It is finally here! I am looking forward to time with family this week, but as you know, there is lots to do to be ready. I am curious – Are you:

  • HostingThanksgiving
  • Going to someone else’s house
  • Going out to eat
  • Something else

We usually host and have everyone from both sides of our families come together. We also divide up the cooking, so no one is responsible for all of it. It sure makes hosting easier!

Whatever you are doing, I pray you have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Latest Devotional

This message has been on my mind for over a year. I started this post last year, but I never could pull it together. I guess it was meant for 2025.

Saturday’s Post – Rudolph and Leaves: A Lesson in Loving Our Differences

A cheerful cartoon reindeer named Rudolph with a red nose stands in a colorful autumn forest. Text above reads “Rudolph and the Leaves: A Lesson in Loving Our Differences.” Website address appears at the bottom.

November’s Scripture

Thanksgiving-themed image with a quote: "Let’s enter His presence with thanksgiving; let’s shout triumphantly to Him in song." Psalm 95:2. Below the text, decorative pumpkins and leaves evoke the essence of Christian songs celebrating gratitude.

A Message from Jay’s Sermon

Jay preached a Thanksgiving message from the book of Luke. He ended by reading one of the Psalms which is filled with reasons for us to be thankful each and every day.

I encourage you to read Psalm 103 through the lens of Thanksgiving. It is beautiful!

YouTube Scriptures

I have started to post a video clips on YouTube. You can follow me here. For now, all of the clips (8-10 seconds) are of nature or animals (which are nature) 🙂 based with a scripture to go along with it. Here is an example:

Christmas Planner

A glittery gold star ornament hangs on a garland of pine branches with white lights. Text below reads, "The Home with Grace and Joy Christmas Planner" by Susan Sikes at Apron Strings, with a website link.

I have been working on a Christmas planner to help with the overwhelm and chaos. I never want another Christmas planned out like 2023! That was the year of DISorganization and chaos!

This 44 page planner comes with checklists, resource pages, and places for your notes.

I have already started using mine! In fact, I made extra copies of some of the pages for Thanksgiving planning.

A holiday planning checklist titled “What You Will Find” from Apron Strings lists 13 planning tips and 5 extra resources, including calendars, planner types, gift lists, and daily Christmas scriptures, on a cream background with a pine branch.

Check out the planner. You can see it here.

I hope this helps someone. I cannot have another 2023 Christmas experience!

Wal-mart+

Be watching for Wal-mart sales this month. they have a few special deals coming soon:

  • Black Friday Sales – November 25-30
  • Cyber Monday – December 1st

If you do not have a Walmart+ account, you might want to test it out during the Christmas season. The first time we tried it, we joined in November and cancelled it in January. It was great for Christmas planning and shopping.
