Read the Book of Proverbs in 31 Days: A Month of Wisdom
March is the perfect month to read Proverbs in 31 days. With one chapter per day, you can complete the entire book while gaining practical Godly wisdom for your home, relationships, and daily decisions.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Those words in the opening chapter of Proverbs set the tone for the entire book. In a world overflowing with opinions and advice, Proverbs reminds us that true wisdom begins with God.
Why Read the Book of Proverbs in March?
Many years ago, a friend of mine shared that she read the book of Proverbs every month, in addition to her regular daily readings from God’s Word. She pointed out that several months had 31 days, and the book of Proverbs had 31 chapters – so one chapter for each day of the month. She just read an extra chapter if the month only had 30 days.

For several years, I took her advice and read the book of Proverbs each month. Somewhere along the way I got out of that habit, but it recently came back to my mind. I can’t say that I will go back to reading it every month in addition to my daily Bible reading, but I plan to read it when there are 31 days.
Since there are 31 chapters in the Book of Proverbs and 31 days in March. That simple alignment makes this month the perfect opportunity to read one chapter a day and allow God’s wisdom to shape your heart and actions.

The Book of Proverbs is found in the Old Testament and is usually associated with King Solomon, who is remembered for asking God for wisdom instead of riches or power.
Proverbs isn’t just poetic advice, it is practical instructions for everyday living. It teaches us how to speak, react, work, parent, how to make decisions, and most importantly, how to fear the Lord.
Whether you are in the middle of reading through your Bible or just getting started, the book of Proverbs can add wisdom to your day.

How to Read Proverbs for Deeper Growth
To make this more than just a checklist, try this simple daily plan:

- Pray before you read. Ask the Lord to reveal what He wants you to learn.
- Read slowly. Proverbs is so full of wisdom. Don’t rush it – let it sink in for you.
- Write one verse that stands out.
- Write down how that one verse applies to you.
- Apply one truth to your life that day. Live it out!
- If you have time at the end of the day, read the verse and your application notes, and write a response to the day.
- Did you have the opportunity to put this into practice?
- Did you apply it to your life?
- Are there any insights you gained today?
- Consider who you might pass this wisdom to someday.
Imagine handing a grandchild a Bible filled with notes from your Proverbs study. That is legacy living.
Why Proverbs is Perfect for Busy Women
Proverbs is a very practical book of the Bible. It relates to:
- Marriage
- Parenting
- Work
- The way we talk
- Finances
- Friendships
- Character
All of these areas are part of our daily life. Proverbs meets us right in the middle of life – in kitchens, offices, carpools, date nights, and quiet mornings with our coffee or tea in hand.
It also reminds us that wisdom is not complicated. It is simply a matter of seeking the Lord and following His wisdom.

Susan, I used to read Proverbs each month, but then I too stepped away from the habit. This month, I’m reading it again. I appreciate your encouragement to seek the Lord for wisdom. I’m visiting from Joanne’s.
