Happy Monday!

I hope you have a wonderful week! As you are seeing this, we are celebrating our wedding anniversary. However, Jay is at work, and I am actually celebrating it at jury duty! I don’t know why I am nervous about this – I may not even be chosen.

It is interesting that our Sunday School lesson this week was about God’s justice. He is a just God but also full of mercy. As I read the lesson, all I could think about were the biases we have because of our life experiences. There is a good chance we don’t even realize that we have them.

We will see how today goes, but I hope I do not have to put on a “justice” hat. I just don’t think I would be very good at that!

Whatever you have going this week, I pray you have a good one. Let me know if I can pray for you specifically in any way.

A Few Thrifting Wins

Who loves a good thrifting adventure? I grew up thrifting and going to garage sales, and I love them! Antique stores and estate sales are also in the mix, and it is that season!

We went to an estate sale yesterday, and I found something I have been searching for for a few months. The hunt is over, and I got a great deal!

Two white vintage salt and pepper shakers with cream-colored lids, labeled "S" and "P," sit on a checkered cloth, evoking the charm of apron strings and home kitchens, with a glass and metal box in the background.

You may think I am crazy for wanting these so badly, but we had these growing up, and I just love them. I have seen these in different antique stores, but they are a little pricey. I got this set for $10, and they cleaned up nicely!

Just a couple more items I gave gotten within the last week:

I love old vintage aprons! I always wonder about the stories they could tell. This one was a must. I loved the pattern.

A floral-patterned jacket with blue flowers and a teal lining, reminiscent of cherished Apron Strings, is draped over the back of a green wooden chair in a sunlit room with carpeted flooring.

If you like old aprons, you might like the post about my grandmother’s old floral apron. It is where I got the floral picture for the Apron Strings’ background.

A clear, patterned glass decanter with a faceted stopper sits on a cream cloth atop a brown checkered fabric, reminiscent of cozy Apron Strings, with a window and wooden decor visible in the background.

I plan on filling this glass decanter with bubble bath. It looks beautiful in the bathroom. The gingham print material in the background also came from an estate sale. The lady was a seamstress and had lots of fabric.

If you like to go thrifting or antiquing, please share your finds! I’d love to see them, especially if you got a vintage olive green percolator at an estate sale this weekend – I missed out on that deal! 🙂

No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

Do you remember the old commercial of the two people colliding while eating chocolate and peanut butter?

  • You got your chocolate in my peanut butter!
  • You got your peanut butter in my chocolate!

As it turned out, it was a pretty good combination.

I feel like I share these links all of the time. However, when people have asked me for them, I have had a hard time finding them in a post or newsletter.

So many people ask me about the Bibles I am making for my grandchildren for their graduation, so I thought I would pull together a little webinar to show how to do them. This would be a free online event, either by Zoom or social media.

An open Bible with handwritten notes on life applications in the margins sits on a wooden table, decorated with greenery, gold candlesticks, and a pink ornament labeled “Joy.”.

I would love to see how many people are interested in joining me for this. If you would be interested, please let me know either by commenting below or emailing me at susan@homewithgraceandjoy.com.

I hope you will grab a Bible and join me.

  1. So many great finds, Susan! I love the idea of using the decanter for bubble bath. I’m going to be on the lookout for one now, too, because that is a genius idea. Love that you found the salt and pepper shakers and the vintage apron. They’re perfectly you and totally fantastic! Happy hunting, CoCo
