Apron Strings & Blessings Weekly Newsletter Vol. 37

Thanks for joining me for this week’s, “Apron Strings & Blessings.” Let’s take a look at a few things faith, family, and home!

I hope you had a great weekend! Ours was full of scared fur babies – actually just one. Ally is terrified of noises; they don’t even have to be loud noises.

  • Dishwashers running
  • Ice machines
  • Washers or Dryers
  • Frogs croaking in the dark
  • Thunder
  • Fireworks (The worst!)

She used to never be scared of noises until we lost Wile E., and that was when it started.

This weekend they had the annual spring Pyrofest at the fireworks store around the corner. We got to see some really beautiful fireworks, but poor Ally.

A black curly-haired dog with colorful confetti on its back stands next to a person in jeans, their apron strings trailing. In the background, two other dogs sit near patio chairs outdoors under a tree.

You can see her in the background of this picture. For the longest she was okay when we were with her “cousins.” However, once the booms got loud enough, (and before her meds kicked in) we had to take her home.

I couldn’t get her to understand that there was nothing to be afraid of – that we were taking care of her!

Isn’t that exactly like us? I may not be afraid of noises coming from the laundry room, but there are plenty of other things that bring up illogical fears. All along, the Lord is there trying to tell us that He is taking care of us.

I am in the process of reading Psalms, and I can tell you that if you are ever afraid, read the book of Psalms. This is part of what I read this weekend:

“When I am afraid, I will trust in You.
In God, Whose Word I praise, in God I trust: I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”
Psalms 56:3-4

There are many more times in the book of Psalms alone that the word says, “Do not fear.” Let me encourage you as I speak to myself also, and cling to these Scriptures when fear creeps in.

I hope you have a blessed week, and don’t forget to let me know if I can pray for you specifically in any way.

I feel like I share these links all of the time. However, when people have asked me for them, I have had a hard time finding them in a post or newsletter.

  1. Such a powerful way to visualize God taking care of us when we let our fears get the best of us, Susan. I really needed that today! Excited that you’re expanding your ministry around the web. You are a beautiful encouragement to all of us. Big hugs, CoCo
