Apron Strings & Blessings Weekly Newsletter Vol. 51

Happy Monday and thanks for joining me for this week’s, “Apron Strings & Blessings.” Let’s take a look at a few things faith, family, and home!

A banner featuring "Apron Strings & Blessings - Tying Faith, Family, and Home Together One Blessing at a Time" with a circular "Home with Grace and Joy" logo. Celebrate the strength of apron strings at www.homewithgraceandjoy.com.

I hope you are having a wonderful summer! We got to spend some time with our older granddaughters this week and had a blast! Our plans were completely changed from what we thought we were going to do. Instead, we filled the time with:

  • The game of Trouble (of course)
  • Ice cream and dirty sodas (only for the girls) 🙂
  • Bowling
  • Arcade games

How do you handle changes of plans? When the kids were small, changes kind of threw us off a bit. I’m glad we can roll with it now. You never know what blessings are in the new plans. We couldn’t have had a better time!

On a side note – Have you ever been around a dog that likes to sit on people or other dogs? 🙂 I am sure it is either a dominance or possessive thing!

Latest Saturday Morning Devotional

Saturday’s Post – All About Jonah

I’m not sure why Jonah has been on my mind, but obviously I needed to take a look at the lessons.

An open Bible on a table shows the book of Jonah, with decorative handwritten text saying "Gracious, Compassionate God" on the left page. Gold candlesticks and greenery are visible in the background, while a pair of apron strings rests nearby, evoking a sense of warmth and home.

June’s Scripture

A beige and white checkered background with a quote in the center: "How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!" Psalm 119:103. Like a Pink Salad, it's both comforting and delightful. www.homewithgraceandjoy.com at the bottom.

Simmer Pot!

A saucepan on a stovetop filled with a mixture of cranberries, sliced apples, and sprigs of rosemary evokes the five senses. The ingredients appear to be simmering in liquid, possibly cooking to create a fall-inspired sauce or compote. A kettle is in the background.

A Fun App to Have

I have had the “Star Tracker Lite” app for several years. It has always been very interesting to me to see the stars and planets in the sky and be able to see exactly which ones they are.

Last week I saw this in the sky. I was pretty sure I knew what the bright light was, but I checked, just in case.

A crescent moon and a bright planet or star shine in a cloudy night sky above silhouetted treetops, their soft glow gently illuminating the world below like faint apron strings tying night to earth.

This is what I got from the app.

A digital star chart shows the Leo constellation as a lion, with labeled stars Denebola, Chertan, Zosma, and Regulus. The Moon and Venus are highlighted near Leo, while the winding pattern of Apron Strings can be traced nearby. The Sextans constellation is partially visible below.

You can move your phone all around the sky and see where the stars and planets are, even the ones not visible to us.

It is a free app. If you are interested, search “Star Tracker Lite” wherever you get your apps.

This Week’s Post – How to Freeze Fresh Tomatoes – The Easy Way

Do you have an abundance of tomatoes this summer? This is an easy way to preserve them so you have them this fall and winter.

Five ripe, red tomatoes are close together. Text overlay reads: "How to Freeze Fresh Tomatoes - The Easy Way. www.homewithgraceandjoy.com." Learn the simple steps to freeze fresh tomatoes and enjoy garden-fresh flavor all year long!.

Quick and Easy Meal Ideas for July

This Week’s Menu

  • Monday – Lemon Shrimp Linguini (I am going to try it this time by adding a little heavy cream about 30 before it is ready.)

  • Wednesday – Breakfast for Supper
  • Thursday – Soft Tacos
  • Friday – Fish Sticks with Vegetables

Favorite Items of the Week

  • You got to love parchment paper! Thank you Kelly for getting my hooked! 🙂
  • The cordless vacuum is working out great! It is so easy and quick to just grab it to get the areas where Ally has shed.
  • I got this in olive green, but it comes in lots of colors.
  • I can’t believe I haven’t shared this dress before now. It is my favorite for church, shopping, and even for wearing around the house. It is so light-weight and cool, with pockets. I probably didn’t share it earlier because it said it was hand-wash only. I have 3 of them now, (and 3 more on my wishlist) and I have been washing them on delicate and hanging them to dry.
Three floral-patterned dresses lie side by side: one is light purple with white flowers, one is greenish-gray with white flowers, and one is blue with colorful embroidered flowers—each featuring delicate apron strings that add a charming vintage touch.

I have several other favorite things that you can see in my Amazon storefront. See the link below.

  1. So glad the girls got to come and stay with you this week. We used to spend time with our grandparents every summer, and it was always so much fun. I’m realizing as they get older, the teenagers can pivot a lot easier than my 75-year-old parents 🙂 Can’t wait to dive into your links, and thanks so much for the stargazing app. We definitely need that at our house! Hugs, CoCo
