Apron Strings & Blessings Weekly Newsletter Vol. 58

Happy Monday! Thanks for joining me for this week’s, “Apron Strings & Blessings.” Let’s take a look at a few things faith, family, and home!

A banner featuring "Apron Strings & Blessings - Tying Faith, Family, and Home Together One Blessing at a Time" with a circular "Home with Grace and Joy" logo. Celebrate the strength of apron strings at www.homewithgraceandjoy.com.

Happy Labor Day!

You know what that means don’t you? No more wearing white until Easter!

This was always a running discussion at school. I am curious, did you grow up with this tradition? Do you still go by this unspoken rule?

A woman with curly blonde hair sits on a cozy sofa, holding a mug. A small dog is next to her. Cushions, a tote, and a chalkboard sign emphasize fall themes and read, “Don’t wear white after Labor Day.” The warm setting brings to mind the comfort of home and Apron Strings tying together moments of simple joy.

Sorry, but I couldn’t help myself! 😂 Many times if you have grown up a certain way, it is hard to change your mindset. I am curious to see your thoughts.

Bible Trivia Question

Question: What was the first miracle Jesus performed?

Find the answer at the end of the post.

Saturday’s Post – How to Cover Your Home with God’s Word

September’s Scripture

I’m ready for the autumn rains! 🙂

An inspirational quote from Deuteronomy 11:14 on a minimalistic background with neutral-toned botanical accents. Perfect for fall ideas, the text reads: “I will provide rain for your land in the proper time, the autumn and spring rains, and you will harvest your grain, new wine, and fresh oil.”

YouTube Scriptures

What a blessing to catch this one!

An orange and black butterfly rests on a vibrant red zinnia flower in the enchanting Apron Strings of the garden, surrounded by other blooming orange flowers and green leaves in a sunlit scene.

Kitchen Tip

I know I have shared this little gadget a thousand times, but I just found another use for it!

A white saucepan filled with tomato sauce sits on a stovetop, reminiscent of cherished moments spent tied to apron strings in the kitchen. A black spatula is partially submerged in the sauce, and a stainless steel kettle and a container labeled “Salt” are in the background.

A lot of times when I cook spaghetti sauce (out of a jar), I will add one of my frozen tomatoes. This time I didn’t have time to thaw it out fully, but this chopper did the trick! It is on sale right now, even though it is pretty inexpensive to begin with.

Well, after I had that all typed up, I remembered my daughter telling me about the wooden one she had. I found one, and it was just delivered!🎉 I just tried it out when I made guacamole, and I really like it.

A hand, still dusted with flour from tugging at apron strings, uses a wooden masher to mix avocado and salsa in a white bowl, on a kitchen countertop.
  • Biggest Pro – It is made of Teak wood instead of plastic.
  • Biggest Con – It is not dishwasher safe.

My Latest Netflix Favorite

Have you by any chance watched Leanne? I was so disappointed when the first season ended. It is so funny and clean! 😂

The second season is out now, and it is still hilarious. We are trying to pace ourselves so we don’t finish it so quickly this time. Let me know if you have seen it or plan to.

This Week’s Post – How Buying Meat in Bulk Saves Time and Money

I finally figured it up, and doing this really does save us lots of time and money!

Assorted bulk meats, a food scale, freezer bags, and a meal planner are displayed on a kitchen countertop with a sign promoting buying meat in bulk as an excellent way to save money and reduce stress for a family of two.

  • I finally started using these Bible tabs in my Bible notebook. I learned a valuable lesson: put them on the page BEFORE you start writing. I didn’t have enough room and had to add them to the top. They are pretty though!
A green spiral notebook with labeled tabs reading “MATTHEW,” “MARK,” “LUKE,” and “JOHN” rests on a bed with a floral-patterned comforter, its corners just touching the faded edge of some old apron strings.

Apparently these are some of the new nail colors for fall.

Which one is your favorite?

I have several other favorite things that you can see in my Amazon storefront. See the link below.

Interesting Sites I Found Last Week

I hope you enjoy both of these.

Christmas Corner

I’m sharing my Christmas planner that really helped me get organized last year. I was a little late finishing it then, so I am looking forward to reprinting some of the pages and putting it fully to use this year! $7 to calm the chaos!😂

A glittery gold star ornament hangs on a garland of pine branches with white lights. Text below reads, "The Home with Grace and Joy Christmas Planner" by Susan Sikes at Apron Strings, with a website link.

On a side note, I used some of the planning pages to help with Thanksgiving also.

  1. It’s always fun to see what you’ve discovered each week, Susan. Leanne is so funny! I swear, if you were raised in the South, you 100% know someone who acts just like her! Love the nail polishes you shared, and thank you for sharing my 30-day decluttering challenge too. I really appreciate it! Big hugs, CoCo PS: I wore a white skirt yesterday 🙂
