Saturday Morning Devotional – A Father’s Day Tribute

June 18, 2022      Leave a Comment

A Father’s Day Tribute

Growing up, and even now, when I am with my dad there is a feeling of love, security, and protection.  I have never been very adventurous but when put in situations, if Daddy was with us, I knew all would be okay.  I know I am not the only one who has felt this way.  I think the Lord giving us our dads is His way of providing that feeling of protection and security.

As we celebrate Father’s Day tomorrow, I hope everyone will be able to celebrate the fathers who are here as well as the ones you may be missing, whether that be due to proximity or passing.  I know of several people who have lost their fathers this year, so I know it will be a difficult day for them.  You may feel like that security is no longer here, but I will tell you that our Heavenly Father is here to give us the ultimate love, security and protection.

Throughout the Bible, you can find scriptures about God’s protection for believers.  I have chosen a few from different psalms to share:

Ps. 17:8  “Guard me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings…”

Ps. 18:2 “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my mountain where I seek refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Ps. 23:4 “Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff – they comfort me.”

Ps. 27:1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom should I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom should I be afraid?”

Ps. 71:5 “For You are my hope, Lord God, my confidence from my youth.”

As you know, there are many more fitting scriptures!  I would love to hear your favorite scriptures declaring the Lord’s love and protection for you!  If you have a favorite, please share it in the comments.

What a privilege to celebrate fathers, not just tomorrow but everyday!  Let us celebrate our earthly fathers as well as our Heavenly Father!  After all, He is the One Who blessed us with our earthly fathers, and I praise Him for that!

Have a Grace & Joy-filled Day!

Hello!

Hello!

Welcome! I believe homes and families should be filled with grace and joy! As I think about my life, I can see how my grandmother and my mom poured these beliefs into our home. How fitting that my grandmother's name was Grace and my mother's name is Joy. I hope to share the impact "Grace and Joy" have made on my life and in my home!

I wrote this back in 2006, but the household tips, recipes, and organizational strategies are still relevant as they are filtered through the lens of Scripture.
