New Beginnings

As a new school year begins, it always seems like a new beginning.  For some, it is just a break and then a continuation to get to a finished goal (graduation).  For others, it is a new school, new teachers, new friends, and all gradebooks start over for them. It is definitely a fresh start!

It has been nice to see many of my students come back to school this week with new clothes, supplies, smiles, attitudes, and goals.  Many of them are determined to have a better academic year than they did last year.  They are using this new beginning to truly start fresh.

Have you ever thought that this is how our spiritual life works also?  We can be coasting along spiritually and after a while feel like we are stuck.  Sometimes we need a Spiritual Refresh.  In times like these, it is so important to have some sort of new beginning.  We may go to a retreat, find a Bible study, rest from our busyness, or just find more time to truly worship the Lord.

One of my favorite scriptures talks about new beginnings.  I actually have this scripture printed on every page of my daily planner.  What an inspiration it is!

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”  Isaiah 43:18-19a

It is time for a new beginning, wherever you are.  Take time to refresh yourself, your goals, your attitude, and draw close to the Lord.  He is going to do something new.
