An Appetizer from Another Joy

You all know about my mom, Joy, but there is another “Joy” who has been a big part of my life – my Aunt Joy (Blankenship), Granny Grace’s daughter.

Just like my mom, this Joy brings a lot of joy to people! If you know her, you know that she has a servant’s heart and loves to give. Today I am sharing her Jalapeno Appetizer – It is one of my favorites!

Aunt Joy and My Dad

At the last family reunion I attended, I happened to be sitting next to Aunt Joy when I took a bite of the most delicious stuffed jalapeno for the first time. The jalapeño was crisp and with the filling, it was so refreshing!

Stuffed jalapeño halves inspired by 8 Easy Jalapeno Appetizer Recipes are arranged in a circle on a rectangular tray decorated with stars and wavy red, white, and blue stripes to resemble the American flag.

I told my aunt that I had to find out who made the jalapeno appetizers, which turned out to be pretty easy since it was her. Since that time, she has given me the recipe, and I made them last week. Delicious!!

Jalapeno Appetizer Ingredients:

A bunch of green onions, several jalapeños, a bottle of Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, dried beef, and Philadelphia cream cheese—everything you need to whip up a tasty jalapeno appetizer on your kitchen counter.

Jalapeno Appetizer Instructions:

A handwritten recipe on floral notepad paper lists ingredients and steps for a jalapeno appetizer—stuffed hot peppers with cream cheese, dried beef, green onions, Accent, Worcestershire sauce, and instructions to fill the peppers.
Handwritten Instructions – Very Simple

This is a very simple and easy recipe!

Instructions

  1. Cut the peppers in half, long ways, and remove the seeds and veins. Wear gloves to protect your hands, face, and eyes.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the other ingredients together well.
  3. Fill the peppers with the cream cheese mixture and serve!

I cannot promise how mild or spicy they will be. These peppers were all bought at the same time and from the same bin at the grocery store. I ended up with some that had just a touch of heat, and others had too much heat for me to eat them.

It is really just personal preference. If you happen to know the secret for picking out mild or spicy peppers, please share.

  • Add diced jalapeno peppers to the cheese mixture to make a jalapeno cream cheese dip recipe.
